  The Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry Department of the Technological Institute of Mexicali -Departamento de Ingeniería Química y Bioquímica del Instituto Tecnológico de Mexicali- offers technical training at the university level. Besides technical coursework, students are required to complete a semester-long professional residency internship in which they work for a local industry. In addition, the Institute provides training courses for industry in microbiology and industrial health and safety. A future goal of the Institute is to provide laboratory analysis services for industries and others who need to analyze water for contaminants.
